WELCOME TO SHELTER COVE

We are thrilled that you have come to our little town to visit. If you have never been here before, we urge you to check out all the amazing places Shelter Cove has to offer. We have beautiful secluded beaches, historic lighthouses, world class fishing, stunning art galleries and epic golf and mountain biking.

But with that said, we all drove the same road to get to the Lost Coast. We like to call it 21 miles of adventures! It is that road that keeps the Lost Coast and Shelter Cove so special. It is also that road that creates challenges for our local businesses.

We kindly request that you remember a few key points when visiting the Lost Coast:

Be Patient. We are seeing more visitors this year than we have ever seen in the past and our crew of hospitality workers is quite small and very difficult to expand. We are all doing our best to provide the best customer service possible but there are only so many of us.

Expect The Unexpected. All of the businesses in Shelter Cove strive to keep consistent hours but with the increase in guests and decrease in staff sometimes the unexpected happens. Here on the Lost Coast, we learn to be prepared for that eatery that you thought was going to be open to be closed. Always have a backup plan and patience in your pocket.

Beach Safety. Each year here on the Lost Coast we lose, at a minimum, one innocent and unware tourist to the ocean particularly at Black Sands and Little Black Sands beach. These beaches are for whale watching NOT FOR SWIMMING. Head to the Shelter Cove beach on the south end of town for that.

Beautiful Shelter Cove. The ocean is our backyard and here on the Lost Coast we do all we can to protect her. We kindly ask that while visiting Shelter Cove you consider PAYING IT FORWARD and pick up more trash than was yours. Oh and those dog poop bags. They don’t pick themselves up when you leave them to grab for later.

Fire Safety. Respect our home and the safety of our volunteer fire department by choosing the beauty of the sunset over a campfire on the beach.

We would like to thank you for choosing our community as your destination and hope you find the Lost Coast a place that welcomes visitors.

Thank you Gyppo Ale Mill for the above welcome comments to our guests.
